LUM is a simplistic light with two states of appearance and function. In its off-state the lamp is reduced to the bare essentials of an unpretentious passive table lamp. When tilted it allegorizes a forward-leaning, helping gesture to focus the light on the desired area. It was designed to be a unique piece of lighting which could easily

be manufactured as a limited series in local workshops. Due to the limited amount of time I challenged myself to create a design which persuades through its idea, not through precision fabrication, giving it a pleasant down-to-earth appearance.

A prototype is currently being built.
